Choosing the correct servo coupling can be a difficult process that involves many performance factors including: shaft misalignment, RPM, space requirements, torque, and others. Matching a shaft coupling with these factors is critical to system performance. Ruland offers servo couplings in rigid, beam, bellows, curved jaw, disc, and Oldham types allowing the user to select the coupling that best fits their application. Ruland manufactured beam couplings have high angular misalignment capabilities, are zero-backlash and have a balanced design for reduced vibration at speeds up to 6,000 RPM. They are manufactured from a single piece of aluminium or stainless steel with multiple sets of spiral cuts to provide higher stiffness and better all-around misalignment capabilities than traditional single beam couplings.
Ruland manufactured bellows couplings have high torque and torsional stiffness capabilities, are zero-backlash, have a balanced design, and can accommodate all forms of misalignment. They are comprised of two anodized aluminium hubs and a stainless steel bellows making a lightweight low inertia coupling capable of speeds up to 10,000 RPM.
Ruland Controlflex couplings are a three-piece assembly with a balanced design comprised of two hubs joined to one or two center inserts called frogs. This design creates a lightweight low inertia flexible coupling capable of speeds up to 25,000 RPM.
Ruland manufactured disc couplings have high torque and torsional stiffness capabilities, are zero-backlash, have a balanced design, and can accommodate all forms of misalignment. They are manufactured in single disc styles for compact installations and double disc styles for higher misalignment capabilities.
Ruland manufactured zero-backlash jaw couplings have a highly customizable three-piece design, have high dampening capabilities, and can accommodate all forms of misalignment. The two aluminium hubs press fit onto an elastomeric center spacer called “the spider” allowing for consistent zero-backlash operation.
Ruland manufactured Oldham couplings have a highly customizable three-piece design, are zero-backlash, and have high parallel misalignment capabilities. Two anodized aluminium hubs press fit into the mating slots of the centre disk allowing for zero-backlash operation and low bearing loads.
Ruland slit couplings are manufactured from a single piece of 7075 aluminium with a patented slit design for smooth transition of motion, consistent zero-backlash operation, and low bearing loads. The radiused edges of the slit pattern reduce stress on the coupling allowing for high torsional stiffness and accommodation of all misalignment types.
